Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to extend his stay at Liverpool by signing a new two-year contract with the Merseyside club in the coming months. Earlier, there were a whole host of rumours surrounding the departure of the 32-year-old from Liverpool when his current contract with them expires in the summer, but now, it is understood that he will put pen to paper quite soon, to continue being a focal point for the club.

Notably, after making his arrival to Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Mohamed Salah has played a key role in taking the English club to the next level, helping them win the coveted Premier League title for the first time since its inception in the 1990s. But, with his current contract due to expire this summer, Mohamed Salah was linked with a move to South Arabian clubs and Paris Saint-Germain, although nothing has materialised in that regard.

It's my last year at the club, so we want to do something special for the city: Mohamed Salah said in recent interview

If Mohamed Salah signs a new two-year contract with Liverpool, then he will be part of the club for more than a decade, where he has already won a plethora of trophies including Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup, among others. Recently, the Egyptian had said, “I want to win the Premier League. It's probably because we didn't celebrate our victory the way we wanted to in 2020 (due to COVID) and also because it's my last year at the club, so we want to do something special for the city.”

Liverpool are currently well on their way to winning the Premier League trophy for the second-time with Mohamed Salah playing a key role, having a 12-point lead over Arsenal with eight matches remaining in the ongoing 2024-25 season. Apart from Mohamed Salah, Liverpool are also working behind the scenes to keep their centre-back Virgil van Dijk, whose contract is also due to expire this summer.

Moreover, Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly expected to not renew his current contract with Liverpool after the conclusion of the current season after getting linked with Real Madrid.
