Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach came up with a crucial update on Virat Kohli’s finger injury that happened during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2. Chasing a target of 170, GT opener Sai Sudharasan played a sweep shot on a delivery from Krunal Pandya, who was bowling the 12th over of the innings. The ball went towards the mid-wicket, where Kohli was deployed. However, while attempting to field the ball, the veteran couldn’t save the boundary and also hurt his finger. The 36-year-old was seen in pain, which gave chills to RCB fans for a few moments.

However, after the game, Flower attended a post-match conference and shared an update that will give a massive relief to the 36-year-old’s avid fans. The RCB head coach remarked, "Virat looks fine, he's okay." Earlier, in the first innings, Virat couldn’t do much with his bat while opening as he failed to counter the Arshad Khan challenge and departed after scoring only seven runs off six balls.

GT hand RCB their maiden IPL 2025 defeat

Gujarat Titans (GT) looked superior against RCB in all departments of the game and handed an eight-wicket defeat to the home side. This was RCB’s first loss in the competition. Fielding first after winning the toss, GT witnessed the bowling heroics of pacer Mohammed Siraj, who took 3/19 figures in his four overs and became the recipient of the player of the match (POTM) award. The speedster bagged the crucial scalps of Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone in his plucky spell.

Pursuing the score, Gujarat got the courageous batting effort of Jos Buttler, who looked ruthless towards bowlers and smashed an unbeaten 73 off 39 with 11 boundaries (five fours and six maximums). The visitors chased down the total in just 17.5 overs with eight wickets in hand.
