Notably, with this win, Aditi became the first women golfer to secure a medal for the country, etching into history books. The 25-year-old who entered the final with a commanding seven-stroke lead, later stumbled upon four bogeys and a double bogey against a lone birdie to clip to second place. She thereafter ended her campaign with a four-day aggregate of 17-under 271, taking the silver medal.
On the other hand, Thailand’s Arpichaya Yubol produced her week’s best card of 64 to claim the gold in women’s golf, whereas Korea’s Hyunjo Yoo took the bronze with 65.
Talking about other India women golfers, Pranavi Urs and Avani Prashanth struggled to bring home cards of 75 and 76 and the team ended in fourth place. Notably, it was India’s fourth individual medal in golf with Lakshman Singh and Shiv Kapur winning the gold in the 1982 and 2002 editions. Rajiv Mohta then in later editions claimed the silver in New Delhi.
