On October 2, Monday, the Indian men’s hockey team crushed Bangladesh 12-0 in the Pool A match, to win their fifth straight match at the Asian Games 2023. With this emphatic victory at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou, Team India has topped their pool to advance through to the semi-final of the Asiad in the men’s hockey competition.

Indians played some commanding hockey in the Asian Games 2023 in the pool stages, and the trend continued against Bangladesh. Within the first four minutes of the contest, the Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh converted two penalty corners to give the Men in Blue a 2-0 lead.
In the 18th minute, Mandeep Singh tripled the lead for the Indians with a clinical finish, before Lalit Kumar Upadhyay made it 4-0 with a neat deflection in the 23rd minute. The second quarter ended with Mandeep Singh capitalising off the penalty corner rebound in the 24th minute, before Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner of his own in the 28th minute, to make the scoreline 6-0 in favour of Team India.
The second half started for Bangladesh in a bad fashion, with Harmanpreet Singh converting a penalty corner to complete his hat-trick in the 32nd minute . Abhishek got his name on the scoresheet for India in the 41st minute with a sensational tomahawk.
Mandeep Singh completed his hat-trick in the 46th minute with a stunning finish, which shocked the Bangladesh goalkeeper. Nilakanta Sharma made it 10-0 in favour of India in the next minute, taking the rebound in the circle with great precision.
Gurjant Singh got his name on the scoresheet in the 56th minute before Abhishek scored his second of the day in the next minute to give India a 12-0 lead against Bangladesh.
