The Indian men's hockey won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 after beating defending champions Japan 5-1 in the final. After a dominant run through the group stages and the knock-out games, the Men in Blue continued their stunning form in the summit clash. The final's win also sealed India's qualification for the Paris Olympics 2024.

After a slow start, Harmanpreet Singh's men failed to convert a few penalty corners through the majority of the first two quarters. But Manpreet Singh finally broke the deadlock with a magical 25th-minute strike. This Manpreet finish opened up the floodgates of India as captain Harmanpreet Singh and Amit Rohidas scored stunners in the 32nd and 36th minute-mark.
Then in the fourth quarter, midfielder Abhishek smashed India's fourth goal in the 48th minute before Japan managed to pull one back thanks to Serren Tanka in the 51st minute. Despite this strike, the Indian team added another goal, thanks to Harmanpreet Singh, to clinch the gold in Hangzhou.
