India’s men’s 10m air rifle team comprising of Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the first gold for the country. On the back of their stunning performance in the team event, the Indian trio of Rudrankksh, Divyansh and Aishwary also shattered the world record.

Talking in detail, the India trio achieved the aggregate of 1893.7 in the qualification round, surpassing the previous best of 1893.3 set by China at the World Championships in Baku (Azerbaijan) last month. While this remarkable number helped them clinch the gold along with etching their name in shooting history for registering best numbers.

While Rudrankksh Patil, who was among the firsts to seal the Paris Olympics quota for India, scored an impressive 632.5, Divyansh and Aishwary contributed with the score of 631.6 and 629.6 in the team's  aggregate.

 

With India taking the gold in the men’s 10m air rifle, South Korea finished behind them with the aggregate score of 1890.1 with China securing the bronze with a score of 1888.2.

 

Earlier on Day 1 of the Games, India women’s trio of Ramita Jindal, Mehuli Ghosh and Ashi Chouksey clinched the first silver  for the country at the 10m air rifle event. The Indian women’s trio finished with an aggregate of 1886, while China finished at the top and Mongolia took the bronze.
