I ndia’s 22-year-old shooter Sift Kaur Samra bagged the gold for the country, winning 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Sift clinched the gold with a score of 469.6, to take India’s gold tally to five at the 19th edition of the Games.

The young Indian sensation qualified for the individual finals with a record score of 594 and thereafter continued her dominance at the event, finishing with the world record breaking score of 469.9. However, China’s Qiongyue Zhang won the silver, India's Ashi Chouksey won her third medal and a bronze in the event with a score of 451.9.
Sift Kaur, Ashi Chouksey and Manini Kaushik win silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3P team event
Earlier in the day, the Indian women’s trio of Sift Kaur Samra, Ashi Chouksey and Manini Kaushik settled for a silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions team event. The Indian trio finished with an aggregate score of 1764. While the 22-year-old Samra aggregated with a score of 594, setting a national record, Ashi Chouksey and Manini scored 590 and 580 respectively in the qualification round.
India trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sagwan also clinched the gold in Women's 25m Pistol team event earlier today with an aggregate score of 1759.
India so far at the time of writing had won 16 medals in total, which included four gold, five silver and seven bronze.
