Indian wrestler Sonam Malik clinched the bronze medal in women's 62kg freestyle at the 19th Asian Games 2023, Hangzhou, the Republic of China. The Indian grappler got better of her Chinese rival Jia Long 7-5 to find a third-spot podium finish in the continental showpiece. With her bronze, she extended the wrestling medal count to three and India's overall medal count to 91.

India's 92nd medal in the ongoing event came in wrestling as Kiran Bishnoi defeated Mongolia's Ariunjargal Ganbat to win bronze. The Indian grappler took down her rival 6-3 in women's 76kg freestyle wrestling at the Asiad 2023.
The Indian wrestlers continued their winning streak on Day 13 of the continental event as Aman Sehrawat won another bronze. Sehrawat locked horns with home favourite Liu Minghu in men's 57kg freestyle category and beat him 11-0 to win India's third wrestling medal of the day extending overall tally to 93.
While many wrestlers successfully brought end to their campaigns on successful note, Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia suffered a defeat in the semifinals of the Asian Games, losing 1-8 to Iran's Rahman Amouzadkhalili. After this, he failed to win a bronze for India as fell short to Japan’s Kaiki Yamaguchi via technical superiority (10-0).
