India’s star javelin thrower, Sumit Antil once again etched his name in history book, shattering the world record at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2023. The 25-year-old para-athlete went on to set a new world as well as Asian record with his 73.29m throw at the Games on Wednesday, October 25.

The Indian athlete also breached the previous Asian Para Games record, with this gold-winning throw, which came in his third attempt in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China. While he took the gold, Sri Lanka’s Arachchige Samitha took the silver, while the other Indian javelin thrower, Pushpendra Singh taking the bronze with 62.06m throw.

Apart from Sumit Antil and Pushpendra Singh, shooter Bhavina Patel took the bronze in table tennis women’s singles - Class 4, para-shuttlers Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramadas also secured the bronze in badminton mixed doubles SL3-SU5.

Shreyansh Trivedi, para mixed doubles shuttlers Nitesh and Thulasimathi, Haney, men’s doubles recurve open team of Harvinder Singh and Sahil, men’s singles - Class 1 star Sandeep Dangi, Narayan Thakur, Pooja, Sheetal and Sarita, Manasi Joshi were among the others to bag medals this morning for the country.
