Manu Bhaker, the Indian shooter, has secured the Paris Olympics quota in the women’s 25m pistol event for the country. The 21-year-old finished in fifth place with a score of 24 in the final of her event at the Asian Shooting Championship 2023 in Changwon, South Korea, after topping the qualification round with 591 points to achieve this feat.

She became the fifth Indian women shooter to book a spot for the country at the Paris Olympics, scheduled to begin on July 26, 2024, after Mehuli Ghosh, Sift Kaur Samra, Rajeshwari Kumar, and Tilottama Sen did the same earlier. Overall, Manu Bhaker is the 11th Indian shooter to secure quotas for the Olympic games next year.

The official X account of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) sent out a congratulatory post for Manu Bhaker for her incredible achievement. Meanwhile, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) also posted a video of the performance of an Indian shooter, through their official X account for India.

The women’s 25m pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championship was won by Liu Rui of China with a score of 37, one point more than Haniyeh Rostamiyan of Iran. The third place went to Zhao Nan of China, who registered a score of 32 to her name.
