The English bowlers put in some remarkable bowling effort as they took down Travis Head and David Warner after having scored just 11 and 15 runs, respectively. Steven Smith played a decent knock of 44 runs off 52 balls, while Marnus Labuschagne scored 71 runs off 83 deliveries to give their side some stability. Apart from Cameron Green, the entire lower batting order failed to contribute much to the overall total before the rivals bundled them out at an average score of 286 runs.
In the second innings, the Aussies made a sound comeback and performed well with the ball, seemingly making up for their below-par batting performance.
Apart from Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali, top batters failed to make much of an impact with the bat.
The Baggy Green bowlers, including the likes of Mitchell Starc, skipper Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa, took steering in their hands and guided the team beyond the final line. The Aussies bundled out their English counterparts at 253 and recorded their fifth consecutive win in the ODI World Cup 2023. With this defeat, the 2019 winners officially got knocked out of the 2023 season of the World Cup.
