Cricket Australia (CA) on Saturday, October 28 named their 15-member for the upcoming India series. Notably, the Aussies are scheduled to play India in a five-match T20I series later this year after having played the ODI series leading to the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The Australian cricket board has named wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade as the skipper of the side, with regular skipper in Pat Cummins along with Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc being rested. “It is an experienced squad with a mixture of players who have had their first opportunity on the international stage and that we hope will continue to develop into important players in our T20 group,” Australia Chief Selector George Bailey said.
Despite not having played any international cricket post the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022, Wade was called in as an injury cover for the South Africa T20I series, followed by leading the pack in the India tour now. Talking about Matthew Wade being named the captain, Bailey added, “Matthew ha captained the team previously, is a leader in the group and we look forward to him taking the reins for this series.
Apart from Wade, the side will feature players like David Warner, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis among others, who are currently in India for the ODI World Cup 2023. Talking more of the five-match T20I series, the first T20I will be played in Visakhapatnam, followed by games in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Nagpur and Hyderabad.
