India’s top-ranked men’s singles shuttler, HS Prannoy will face Weng Hong Yang of China in the final of the Australian Open Super 500 badminton tournament in Sydney on Sunday, August 6, 2023. Prannoy, who is ranked ninth in the world, has been in sublime form throughout the tournament, including a win over number one ranked Anthony Ginting.

Prannoy defeated fellow Indian Priyanshu Rajawat, who had impressed so far, winning the Orleans Masters and reaching the semifinals here by beating compatriot Kidambi Srikanth. The 31-year-old made light work of the Super 500 semifinal debutant as he won 21-18, 21-12 in straight sets and will now face Weng Hong Yang for his second Super 500 title of the year.
