Bangladesh is set to host their Asian rivals Sri Lanka for a full-fledged tour which consists of three three-match T20I and ODI series followed by two Test matches. However, the tour will commence on March 4 with three T20Is will be played entirely in Sylhet.
After the successful completion of the BPL, the focus shifts to the International T20I for the hosts in what will be their last preparation series before heading to the USA and West Indies for the T20 World Cup 2024. In the lead-up to the multinational tournament, Bangladesh has omitted the seasoned all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan from the current squad.

Sri Lanka, instead, opted for an experience in their team and included some veterans in Angelo Matthews, Dasun Shanaka, and Kusal Mendis. Sri Lanka has visited Bangladesh twice for the T20I series and clean-swept both times. A series win here will end their pre-World Cup preparations on a positive note before they leave for the event, which they last won in 2014.
