The Mumbai Indians Women’s team picked up their second WPL title in three years on 15th March 2025 at the Brabourne stadium. They defeated the Delhi Capitals by eight runs in what was a thrilling finale to the season. Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai's captain, played a crucial role in guiding her team to victory with a composed batting display. While Nat Sciver Brunt picked up three crucial wickets in the second innings, including skipper Meg Lanning and hard-hitter Marizanne Kapp, who looked to be taking the game away for the Delhi Capitals at one moment during the run-chase. The victory was even more special for Nat Sciver Brunt as she was named player of the tournament and also won some other personal accolades.

In the post match interview, Brunt expressed her delight at winning this trophy with the MI team. She said, “I’m so happy to be standing here as a winner. I will ride the highs as long as I can because I am sure there are some lows around the corner as well, that’s just what cricket is.” referring to maintaining her consistent performances.

Sciver breaks the record for most runs in one WPL season

Nat-Sciver brunt picked up the player of the tournament award for her all round performance as she scored 523 runs and picked up 12 wickets throughout the campaign. For her run-scoring feat, she picked up the orange cap award and with this she also became the first ever player to score 500+ runs in a single edition of the WPL.

The English all-rounder also spoke about how the team atmosphere was and how it felt like being part of something special. She said, “It is so special to be a part of a franchise that has become a family.” While it was all smiles in the MI camp, the loss came as rather bitter for the Delhi Capitals. The Capitals suffered their third consecutive finals defeat, despite a strong campaign throughout the tournament.
