The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka saw a massive verbal altercation break out before the 27th over of the chase. Batting first, Sri Lanka managed to post a decent 280-run target with Charith Asalanka scoring a century. But the biggest highlight of the first innings was Angelo Mathews as he became the first batter in international cricket to be timed out.

Then as the action moved to the second innings, tempers were flaring up as both teams were going at each other. But Bangladesh, after a few early wickets, managed to gain control with Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto scoring freely.

Then before the 27th over, umpires decided to change the ball due to the dew.  Here, the Sri Lankan team wasn't happy with the new ball and hence were discussing with the official. Shakib Al Hasan tried intervening which raised tempers on the ground causing a verbal fight.
