Bangladesh have announced a 17-member squad with Shakib Al Hasan as captain in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 after Tamim Iqbal stepped down from captaincy and notably, remains ruled out of this tournament with injury. Bangladesh have played an integral role in the last five editions of Asia Cup as they have been three-time runners-up in 2012, 2016 and 2018 respectively.

Litton Das has been very consistent as opener for Bangladesh since 2022. He has scored 761 runs from 22 innings in ODIs at an average of over 40 in that time period. In the absence of Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Naim is likely to open the batting for the Bangladeshi side, who also opened in the last two completed ODI games against Afghanistan.
