An official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly stated that they have taken a decision to not play the three-match ODI series on their upcoming tour to Pakistan. With that, the Bangladesh cricket team will be playing a five-match T20I series against Pakistan instead of three matches previously agreed upon as both the sides want to best prepare for the Asia Cup T20 tournament later this year and T20 World Cup in 2026.
The Asia Cup 2025, set to be played as a T20 tournament, is scheduled to happen in India this September, with Pakistan’s matches to be hosted at a neutral venue as per the mutual agreement between the BCCI and the PCB. The similar circumstance will be in place for the highly anticipated T20 World Cup next year, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Earlier, Bangladesh were set to tour Pakistan for a three-match ODI and T20I series in the month of May, but now the plans have completely changed to get ready for a lot of 20-over tournament cricket at the international level scheduled to go down in the next one year. Also, as per the report from Cricbuzz, Pakistan will also take on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series away from home in July, a series which was agreed upon by the PCB and BCB officials on the sidelines of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Bangladesh will play three-match T20I series against Pakistan at home beginning on July 20
The official of the BCB privy to the matter told the aforementioned news website, “We have decided to play T20Is instead of ODIs in the upcoming tour of Pakistan as we are planning to start our preparation for the next T20 World Cup as well as Asia Cup through that series. When Pakistan will travel to Bangladesh they are scheduled to play three T20Is.”
The dates for the three T20I matches between Bangladesh and Pakistan in July are 20, 22, and 24, and the matches will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
