The upcoming tour of Bangladesh to Pakistan is likely to be affected amidst the ongoing high-voltage political drama in the country. Notably, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign from her post and she escaped the country. Bangladesh’s senior men’s team is set to play a two-Test away series against Pakistan from August 21. The first Test between the team is scheduled from August 21 to 25, and the other Test is scheduled from August 30 to September 3 in Rawalpindi.

However, with such volatile scenes going on in Bangladesh, their upcoming series seems to be in jeopardy. According to NDTV, a source close to PCB informed that the PCB even offered the Bangladesh Cricket Board (PCB) to fly out the Test squad to Rawalpindi at the earliest to ensure that the series is played as scheduled.

NDTV quoted the source as saying, “The PCB has even offered to host their players for the extra days and provide them with all training facilities in Rawalpindi ahead of the Test matches but they have not responded as yet.” Notably, the BCB delayed their arrival of A side to Pakistan by 48 hours which casts doubts over the execution of the series.

The source added, “With the BCB president (Najmul Hosain Papon) also leaving the country, apparently the board is not functioning normally.” Not only this, but other reports also state that the Women’s T20 World Cup in October is likely to be moved out of Bangladesh and will be shifted to India, UAE or Sri Lanka.
