Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag took a brutal dig at the England Cricket Team after they lost the Test series against India 4-1 despite winning the first match of the series. Team India staged a sensational comeback after losing the first match to win the next four games in a row and dominated England. Sehwag slammed the Three Lions on social media stating that the team " looked clueless" after the second Test.
India defeated England on Saturday, March 9, by an innings and 64 runs to win the fifth and final Test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. With this series win, Team India retained the Anthony de Mello Trophy 4-1 as Kuldeep Yadav was named the Player of the Match in the fifth Test.
India youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal announced his emergence in Test cricket by winning the Player of the Series award for his astonishing run-scoring achievement in the series. Jaiswal smashed 712 runs in the five-match Test series against England followed by Shubman Gill with 452 runs.
England commenced the Test series on a winning note as they won the first Test in Hyderabad. However, they went on to lose the next four games as Team India dominated their opponents. England continued their fine form in the second Test, however, the hosts outplayed them in Vizag, which started the downfall of England. According to Sehwag, England looked clueless after losing the second Test and failed to make a comeback.
Sehwag wrote on X (formerly Twitter), " Bazball, Batti Gull. There needs to be a method to madness. England simply didn’t have the game to match and looked clueless particularly after the second test match.
"The captain failing miserably only added to their woes and they simply looked like living in an illusion. For this method to succeed, there needs to be a method to madness, which England severely lacked. "
