The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been in a state of turmoil after the demise of the elected government in the country, and the latest matter of contention is the fall out between the director Najmul Abedin and the president Faruque Ahmed. It has led to Abedin openly stating on a local TV channel that he isn’t ready to continue in his current role with the BCB due to differences with Faruque.
Notably, Najmul Abedin and Faruque Ahmed became the part of the BCB after being appointed in their respective director and president roles by the National Sports Council (NSC) of Bangladesh. These two took the charge of the BCB after Nazmul Hasan was ousted from his role as the president of the cricket’s governing body in the country following the elected government’s demise.
If it continues to be like that, I may not like it and maybe I can think of going off: Najmul Abedin
But shortly after, the news about the differences between Abedin and Ahmed came out, and it’s now an open secret in the Bangladesh cricket circles. In his latest interview with Cricbuzz, Najmul Abedin spoke about the fellow BCB official in detail, which read, “What I wanted to say is that I didn't see so many things going according to my expectations. It's not about my personal wish. But as a whole, the way it should go, I think, it's not going that way at the minute and things could have been better. If it continues to be like that, I may not like it and maybe I can think of going off (from BCB).”
Najmul Abedin also remarked that he has the experience to do his job to the best of his ability without being told anything. He said, “I am with cricket for the last 40 to 45 years and so I don't think I need to think from the scratch what I wanted to change and what needs to be done. As a coach or as a board director, I know exactly what kind of changes I want to see in certain areas. It's not like whatever I want is right and all my wishes need to be fulfilled. But it was hurtful not to see those things (changes) and if that remains the same I will certainly lose interest.”
Moreover, Faruque Ahmed addressed the accusations from Najmul Abedin in regards to differences between them, and his side of the story was all about how there is some miscommunication between them, which led to matters going out of hand in respect to their work at the Bangladesh Cricket Board. He was quoted as saying, “There's no conflict. Within the organization, there can be some problems but nothing like that (conflict).”
