Former India batter Robin Uthappa has given a surprising take recently and has suggested the BCCI allow players in a foreign T20 League. Currently, as per the BCCI’s regulations, active Indian players are not allowed to compete in different leagues around the world, and Uthappa has spoken against it.
While commentating in the ongoing second India vs West Indies T20I, Robin Uthappa said, “I feel BCCI should send at least 3-4 youngsters to play in CPL”. Uthappa, who retired in September last year, is now allowed to participate in such leagues, but he feels that other players should get the opportunity too.

He said this while keeping in mind that the next T20 World Cup is also slated to be hosted by the Caribbean islands and the United States. Playing in those conditions will certainly help Indian players get used to the conditions before the world cup. This will also give valuable exposure to youngsters on the big stage.
India have faced a drought in T20 World Cups, since winning the inaugural 2007 World T20 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. It is to be noted that Robin Uthappa was a crucial part of that squad too.
Talking about the ongoing match, India are in a spot of bother, as they have managed to put up a meager total of 152-7 while batting first after winning the toss. No player crossed the 30-run threshold apart from Tilak Varma, who has continued to impress at the international level. The West Indies had put up a similar total in the previous game, but India was unable to chase the total, hence, a tough job lies ahead for the bowling lineup, which consists of Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravi Bishnoi.
