After the Indian bowling attack got scrutiny from all corners for leaking runs on second day of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series, the same continued on the following day. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, who finished with six wickets, none of the other bowlers performed upto the expectation, adding frustration as the hosts, Australia added to their overnight score of 405.
Although, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep got the three remaining wickets in the opening session of Day 3, Akash Deep received some schooling from the Team India skipper Rohit Sharma. However, afterwards the Indian pacer got the wicket of Alex Carey, who departed having scored 70 runs off 88 deliveris.

An instance of Akash Deep getting the schooling came in the 114th over of the Australia innings. Bowling a wide on the fifth delivery of the 114th over which landed outside the pitch, Rohit Sharma appeared to lose his cool as he yelled a few words. The delivery even required efforts from Rishabh Pant as he went for a full stretch dive in order to stop the ball.
In the videos of the incident going viral, Rohit Sharma was caught on the stump mic saying, “Sarr main kuch hai? (Is there anything in your head)." Although, Akash Deep came in to bowl better as he got the prized wicket of Alex Carey to bundle out Australia at 445 runs.

Akash Deep, who is featuring in his first Test outside of India, replaced Harshit Rana in the playing XI for the Gabba Test. The right-arm pacer proved to be an expensive option as he conceded 95 runs in his 29.5 over spell with a wicket to his name. On the other hand, speaking of the ongoing Test at the Gabba, India trail Australia by 394 runs with KL Rahul (33 off 64) and Rohit Sharma (0 off 6) in the middle.
