5. Alzarri Joseph fined for using offensive language
The fifth controversy in the list is related to West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph. Before the start of the first ODI against Bangladesh in Nebraska on December 8, Joseph was found to have breached Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel for “use of an audible obscenity.” Notably, Alzarri Joseph used offensive and obscene language during an exchange with the fourth umpire after the umpire asked him not to step onto the pitch with the spikes on.
