24-year-old Sam Curran rightly received the  Player of the Tournament for his incredible bowling performance in the T20 World Cup 2022 after England clinched their second T20 World Cup title. The left-arm pacer picked ten wickets in his five innings of the ICC tournament including three wickets conceding 12 runs in his four over quota.

While Sam Curran was adjudged Player of the Match as well for his brilliant spell in the summit-clash against England at Melbourne Cricket Ground, the young pacer claimed that experienced all-rounder Ben Stokes should have been awarded with Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock.

Notably, Ben Stokes remained unbeaten during the run chase while England kept losing wickets until the all-rounder played winning stroke in the 18.6 over. 31-year-old scored 52 off 49 deliveries with the help of one six and five boundaries with a strike rate of 106.12. The England all-rounder also picked one wicket in the first innings in the form of Iftikhar Ahmed (o off 6).

While batting first, Pakistan got the decent start before the side suffered a mini collapse in the middle. But crucial knocks from Babar Azam (32 off 28), Shan Masood (38 off 28) and Shadab Khan (20 off 14) helped the side to post 137 as target for England.

In response, Shaheen Shah Afridi provided early breakthrough to his side as he dismissed Alex Hales in the first over, but Jos Buttler (26 off 17), Ben Stokes (52 off 49), Harry Brook (20 off 23) and Moeen Ali (19 off 13) rose to the occasion to ensure comprehensive win for the Englishmen.
