Australia have finally reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years with a six-wicket win in the fifth and the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The hosts made a great comeback after losing the first Test in Perth by 295, and went on to dominate India in the remaining four matches, clinching the series by 3-1. On the other hand, India had no answer to Australia’s game plan as they failed to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
There have been several tremendous performances from the players from both Australia and India in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Despite having a forgettable series with the bat, India got some great performances from some of their key batters, including the likes of opening batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. After skipper Rohit Sharma missed the first Test, Rahul opened with Jaiswal in Perth and the duo ended up putting an opening stand of 201 runs. Apart from that, Jaiswal also finished as a second highest run-scorer of the series with 391 runs in five matches, while KL Rahul also was reasonably consistent with the bat, scoring 276 runs at an average of 30.66.
