Ravichandran Ashwin and KL Rahul had a lively chat with each other before Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) crucial game against Delhi Capitals (DC), at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on April 5. DC have started their campaign confidently as they are currently in the second spot on the points tally with their couple of wins after two matches. On the other hand, the Yellow Army haven’t played according to their reputation. Chennai have won only one game out of three outings and are placed in the eighth position on the table.

Ahead of the match, DC took to X and posted a clip of a chat between their veteran batter Rahul and CSK’s spinner Ashwin. Both players met at the practice session on April 4 and Ashwin also praised DC’s performance in the competition. The 38-year-old also called Rahul a finisher and can be seen asking the India middle-order batter jokingly to give a couple of points to Chennai. The veteran spinner also asked about Rahul’s newborn daughter.

“Finisher Rahul in play” says Ashwin to Rahul. “You’ll survive,” replied Rahul. “How’s the little one?”, asks Ashwin about Rahul’s daughter. “She’s good,” said the IPL 2020 Orange Cap winner. “You guys are playing very well, go easy on us! Only two points, anna,” asks Ashwin. In reply to Ashwin, Rahul chuckled and walked back to participate in the practice session. The conversation ended with Rahul saying, “See you after the game”.

DC look to end their losing streak at Chepauk in IPL 2025

DC have never won a match against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium since 2010. Delhi’s last triumph at the venue came in 2010, when their coach Hemang Badani was a part of Chennai. In the third IPL season, under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy, DC pulled off the target of 113 runs and bagged a six wicket win over Chennai.

Chennai will keep their expectations high from their formidable spin-bowling trio of Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad to return to winning ways. Noor is currently the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, with nine wickets in four matches at a thrifty economy of 6.83.
