Big Cricket League (BCL), a franchise-based T20 tournament, will kick-start with its inaugural season in Lucknow this coming month of September. The brainchild of the former Indian cricketer, RP Singh, the BCL 2024 will give the opportunity to the local Indian players to rub shoulders with international stars in the shortest format of the game.

The six franchise teams of the BCL 2024 are namely Northern Challengers, Rajasthan Kings, Mumbai Marines, Southern Spartans, Bengal Rhinos, and Awadh Lions, who will be playing 18 T20 matches in the inaugural season. There will be 60 local players from India alongside 48 international stars, who are set to participate in the inaugural season of the new league.

As per the report from PTI from a few months ago, the Indian World Cup winner, Dilip Vengsarkar, and the West Indies legend, Courtney Walsh, are going to serve as the Commissioner and the Vice President of the BCL 2024 respectively. As per the latest development, Sony Liv have come onboard as the official live streaming partner of the league.

During the launch of the BCL 2024, RP Singh, the Founder and the President of the league,  was quoted as saying, “We saw so many talented cricketers whose dreams remained just out of reach. The BCL gives these local aspiring cricketers a platform to showcase their talent and experience cricket like never before rubbing shoulders with their heroes.”
