Following a gold medal at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024, Navdeep Singh, the Indian men’s javelin athlete in the F41 category, had his animated celebration after executing a throw going viral on the social media platform X, drawing comparisons with Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket superstar. The 23-year-old showcased his fiery demeanour at the Stade de France in Paris, with one fan wondering whether Navdeep Singh is the “Virat Kohli of Javelin Throw?”
For the unversed, Navdeep Singh was initially awarded a silver medal for throwing the javelin 47.32m, but it got upgraded to a gold medal after Iranian athlete Beit Sayah Sadegh, who had registered a throw of 47.64m got disqualified by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for unsporting and improper conduct. Sadegh had repeatedly displayed an objectionable flag during the men’s javelin throw F41 event at the Stade de France in Paris, which led to Singh receiving the gold medal with a Paralympic record.

Before winning the gold medal at the Paralympic Games 2024, the final of the men’s javelin F41 was an intense event, bringing out the raw emotions from all the athletes on display. After executing one of his throws, a foul-mouthed Navdeep Singh was captured on camera, cussing and showing aggression, which was quite similar to what Virat Kohli does on the field during his cricket matches.
Moreover, the WPA rule due to which Navdeep Saini’s silver was upgraded to gold states, “World Para Athletics (WPA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and conduct in the sport of Para athletics.
