Brazilian national team keeper Alisson Becker suffered a head injury during his team’s 2-1 victory against Colombia. The 32-year-old shot-stopper had to be subbed off during the 78th minute of the match after colliding head on with Colombian defender Davinson Sanchez while trying to punch out a cross. As per the rules related to head injuries in football, the referee had to stop the match immediately and called for urgent medical attention for both the players. Davinson Sanchez was also subbed off and even though Alisson was back on his feet, he also had to be replaced as a precautionary measure.

Brazil ended up winning the match 2-1 courtesy of a late 90+9th minute goal by winger Vinicius Junior. The Real Madrid attacker attempted a curled shot from outside the box, which took a deflection from a Colombian defender and was beyond the reach of the Colombian keeper and ended in the back of the net. In what comes as a delight for Brazilian fans, Alisson is perfectly fine after recovering from the head injury incident.

While Alisson had to be subbed off during the match due to precautionary measures, he left the Brazil national team camp and flew back to Liverpool. He is recovering well from his injury and will be ready to feature for Liverpool in their upcoming matches. However, this will mean that Brazil will miss their main-stay goalkeeper in their upcoming fixture against Argentina on March 26, and will most likely be replaced by Bento Krepski.

Alisson posted a story on his Instagram page, updating fans about his health and well-being and assured that he is doing alright. He said, “Hey guys, just to let you know I’m fine! Just have to follow the protocols! Thanks for the messages”, referring to the fact that he had to fly back to Liverpool leaving the national team camp. He will most likely feature in Liverpool’s upcoming match against Everton.
