A Delhi court summoned BJP MP and the outgoing Chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, over sexual harassment of female wrestlers, including a minor. The Rouse Avenge court in Delhi has summoned Singh after taking the knowledge of the chargesheet in the case and has asked him to appear in court on July 18.
Six female wrestlers accused Bhushan of harassing and intimidating them. Apart from Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the court has also issued a summon to Vinod Tomar, Bhushan’s Assistant Secretary.

The Delhi court which has issued the summons noted, “there was sufficient evidence to proceed against the accused.” On June 2, the Delhi Police filed two FIRs and 10 complaints against the WFI Chief based on the allegations made by the wrestlers. The complaints had the mention of the WFI Chief’s attempt of touching the wrestlers inappropriately.
Later, the police filed a chargesheet against Brij Bhushan on June 15, under section 109, which talks about the abetment of any offence, if the act abetted is committed in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment. Apart from that, sections 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 506 (criminal intimidation) were also taken into account during the same.
Notably, top Indian wrestlers, including the likes of Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Sakshi Malik, protested demanding the arrest of Bhushan. However, the BJP MP denied all the allegations made against him by the wrestlers.
