Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki is set to make her return in professional tennis after announcing retirement in 2020. The 32-year-old who has been a former World No. 1 on Thursday, June 29 said that she was ready to make a return, which comes just days ahead of Wimbledon 2023.
The Danish player, who had earlier called on her career in 2020 to start a family at the age of 29 has decided to take a U-turn and added that she has goals to accomplish. In a tweet announcing her return, Wozniacki said, “I still have goals to accomplish. I want to show my kids that you can pursue your dreams no matter your age or role.”
In her tweet, the 32-year-old also added that she can’t wait to return to serve. It is to be noted that the Dane wanted to start a family with her husband and former NBA player David Lee. The player is currently a mother to a daughter named Olivia and son James.
Adding more on her return, Wozniacki said that she will make her return at the Canadian Open in Montreal in August before eying a comeback at the US Open, set to take place from 28 August to 10 September at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
The former World No. 1, who spent almost 71 weeks at the top has won 30 singles title so far before announcing her retirement ahead of the Australian Open in 2020.
