The co-owner of Chelsea football club, Todd Boehly, is reportedly interested in purchasing a stake in The Hundred’s franchise London Spirits. Notably the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are looking for private ownership of almost 49% of each franchise in the league. Not only this, but the board is also giving them an option to extend the ownership, but it would require the owners to deal with the county clubs which have another 51% of stake.
Reports of several Indian Premier League franchises showing interest in The Hundred’s franchises have been doing rounds for quite some time now. However, as per latest reports by Sky News, Boehly is backing a bid spearheaded by Jonathan Goldsein in an offer for a larger stake in the London-based franchise, London Spirit. Notably, he bought Chelsea Football Club for $5.6 billion alongside Behdad Eghabli. However, the reports suggest that the duo is having some rights and they are looking to buy each other’s shares.
