On Sunday, November 26, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the former world No. 1 pair, lost the men’s doubles final of the China Master Super 750 at the Shenzhen Bay Gymnasium. Satwik-Chirag suffered a defeat in three close games against the current World No. 1 pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China by 19-21, 21-18, 19-21.
The first game saw Liang-Wang take a lead of 11-9 at the interval before Satwik-Chirag pushed them until they managed to win two back-to-back points to close it out at 21-19. The Chinese duo were ahead by a considerable margin in the opening exchanges of the second game but Satwik-Chirag took the 11-10 lead at the interval before clinching it easily with a margin of 21-18.

Liang-Wang started the third and deciding game dominantly, racing to a 5-0 lead but the Indian duo got themselves on the scoreboard which read 11-6 at the interval. They consolidated their lead to 20-13 but then Satwik-Chirag saved six out of seven match points before losing to them by 21-19.
If Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had won the final of the China Masters, then it would have been their second BWF Tour Super 750 title after the win at the French Open last year. Notably, the win in the men’s doubles final at the China Masters Super 750 for Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang was the first for any Chinese duo in eight years.
