In the aftermath of a high-scoring IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, Mohammed Shami spoke about the difficult time for his India teammate Hardik Pandya with the ball. Th e 33-year-old also stated the bowlers, who have been expensive in the current IPL, should come up with at least two to three plans to combat the rampaging batters.
Mohammed Shami has been sidelined from cricket after suffering a heel injury post the ODI World Cup 2023, for which he underwent a surgery recently. The right-arm fast bowler was scheduled to take part in the IPL 2024 season with Gujarat Titans, but he got ruled out of the tournament to focus on his injury recovery.
In the latest video on his YouTube channel, Mohammed Shami pointed out the performance of Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai Indians, against Delhi Capitals in their recent IPL 2024 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. He said, as per Times of India, “Hardik Pandya gave away 41 runs in just 2 overs and took one wicket. He was very expensive. He gave away runs at a 20.5 economy rate. Mumbai Indians showed a solid fight back but fell short of just 10 runs.”
“If the IPL 2024 is witnessing high-scoring games, so I would advise bowlers to come up with at least 2 to 3 plans. If their first plan doesn't work, switch to second and if second doesn't work, then switch to third,” Mohammed Shami added.
Moreover, Hardik Pandya will be taking MI to Lucknow to play against LSG, who will also be taking part in this match on the back of a tough home loss at the hands of RR.
