The mega auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is around the corner. A ll the franchises have got their final after the players retention ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction which is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25. This will be the second time the IPL auction will take place outside India, after it was held in Dubai last year.
With 10 days ahead of the much-awaited event, the IPL released a new countdown video on their social media. The 37-second long video featured every IPL franchise at the auction table creating more buzz around the IPL 2025 mega auction. The video was shared with a caption, “It is Monumental, It is Momentous, It is MEGA. The clock has started ticking as we are just10 days away from the much-awaited #TATAIPL Auction.”
1574 players registered for IPL 2025 mega auction, South Africa leading the chart
The mega auction is coming back after three years, where some big names from top cricketing nations will go under the hammer. After the player retentions, 1574 players from different countries have registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction, including 1165 players from India, along with 409 overseas players. The list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
Talking about overseas players, South Africa is leading the chart with 91 players having registered from the country for the IPL 2025 mega auction, while 76 players have registered from the Australian team. Every franchise will be coming with a particular budget left after the player retentions with Punjab Kings having the highest purse of INR 110.5 crore. Each franchise can take maximum 25 players in their squad and total 204 slot are left to filled among the 10 teams in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
