On November 19, 2023, the Indian cricket team lost the ODI World Cup final by six wickets against Australia in front of their home fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After being bundled out for 240-run total in 50 overs, the Indian cricket team had a tough task to defend the runs on a pitch which was expected to get better under lights with the dew formation, and despite the best efforts from their pace bowlers, Australia chased down the target with seven overs to spare.

In the 10th over of the Indian innings, when Rohit Sharma was on 47 runs after hitting four fours and three maximums, he tried to take Glenn Maxwell downtown, only to spoon it towards the cover region where Travis Head ran around 20 metres backwards, to take a diving catch.
