On Saturday, September 21, Daniel Dubois, the British professional boxer, knocked out his fellow compatriot Anthony Joshua, to retain the IBF Heavyweight Championship on the Riyadh Season Card: Wembley Edition. After being knocked down twice in the early stages of the championship match, Anthony Joshua was trying to turn his fortunes around before two massive right hand punches on the counter from Daniel Dubois were more than enough in the fifth round to put an end to a one-sided beating at the Wembley Stadium.
In front of 96,000 fans in London, Daniel Dubois was the aggressor from the get-go, nailing Anthony Joshua with a huge overhand right at the end of first round despite being warned for excessive use of his head. Following the domination for Dubois in second and the third rounds, Joshua tried to change the complexion of the contest in the fourth round, but a scathing left from his opponent had him nearly done for the evening.

During the post-fight chat inside the ring at Wembley Stadium, Daniel Dubois was quite happy about winning the biggest fight in his professional career. He was quoted as saying, “I'm a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to get to the top level of this sport and reach my potential,” while Anthony Joshua addressed his loss and remarked, “You know I'm ready to kick off in the ring but I'm going to keep it respectful. Before I came here, I always say to myself I'm a fighter for life. You keep rolling the dice.”
