In a major development, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have reportedly saved ₹50 crore each to sign Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the IPL 2025 auction. It has been further revealed that these two franchises are waiting for Rohit Sharma’s confirmation in regards to leaving Mumbai Indians, where he has won five IPL titles as captain in the last decade or so.
Notably, Rohit Sharma played in the IPL 2024 for Mumbai Indians under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya after taking the franchise to unprecedented heights during his leadership tenure, which began in 2013. In the recently concluded season of the IPL, Mumbai Indians finished in 10th and bottom place, while Rohit Sharma’s batting form wasn’t quite up to his lofty standards either.

Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have reportedly saved a huge sum of money, ₹50 crore each, to bring him to their respective franchises for the next season of the league.
At the same time, these two franchises are looking for a confirmation from Rohit Sharma on whether he will switch his IPL team.
