Serbian tennis player Dejana Radanovic landed herself in controversy and was on the receiving end of criticism after making remarks about India. The world number 245 player was on a three-week trip to India, where she participated in three W50 events in Pune, Bengaluru, and Indore. Not only this, but she also played in the Mumbai Open WTA $125K, where she was knocked out in the qualifying round, after losing to India’s Vaidehi Chaudhary.

The Serb made distasteful remarks against India and criticised the South Asian country for being unhygienic. She condemned traffic as well as food and threatened to never return to the country. In a series of Instagram stories, Radanovic wrote, "I didn’t like India – the country. I didn’t like the food, traffic, hygiene (worms in the food, yellow pillows and dirty bed linen in the hotel, not knowing how to use roundabout etc.)"

She added, “If you come to my country, Serbia, and you don’t like all those same things, that means you are a racist??? What the hell that has to do with racism?!" These comments landed her in hot water, and several users demanded an apology from the tennis star for her statement.

Here’s how people reacted to her comments on social media.
