Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals is likely to join hands with the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) to upgrade the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The stadium acts as the home ground for the franchise's  IPL and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) teams.

According to reports, the franchise will undertake maintenance of the stadium during the non-IPL months. The stadium is set to receive funds of INR 75 crore from the Delhi-based franchise. Earlier, the stadium also received funds of INR 50 crore for the renovation by the BCCI ahead of the forthcoming ODI World Cup.

The Times of India's report further states that DC co-owner Parth Jindal and DDCA President Rohan Jaitley have held talks about the arrangement. The meeting concluded with the Capitals being more involved in enhancing the overall facility management at the stadium throughout the year.

A source was quoted by TOI as saying, “There have been discussions to set up two classy hospitality boxes in the stadium. The idea is to set up temporary boxes by the World Cup and finish the project by the next IPL. The stadium has received many complaints with regards to crowd experience during matches. DDCA and Capitals have put that as a priority.”

It added, “Football stadiums in Europe are managed by corporates to maintain facilities for their club teams. This move will be somewhat in that direction. Now with the Women’s Premier League set to be played in the home-and-away format, Capitals will need the stadium for more than just two months of IPL.”

Notably, the Arun Jaitley Stadium will host a total of five matches in the ODI World Cup, including India’s league-stage match against Afghanistan on October 11.
