A Delhi cricketer, who travelled Kolkata to play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, was shockingly honey trapped and looted by three accused. According to reports, Baguiati Police held three people on charges of extortion of lakhs of rupees allegedly for filming the cricketer without consent and blackmailing him.
22-year-old batter, Vaibhav Kandpal, informed police that he travelled with the Delhi state team to Kolkata on October 29 for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and stayed at a hotel in Salt Lake. "Vaibhav was called to come to a bus stand in Baguiati by three people and was threatened. The accused robbed the Delhi cricketer of Rs. 60,000 and also took away his mobile phone and jewellry," local police stated. Reports have also informed that cricketer was lured to the bus stand by showing pictures of several young women through a dating site.
"The accused deceived the cricketer by saying he could spend time with one of the women following which he was taken to different places in the city. The accused then extorted lakhs of rupees by threatening to make offensive videos of his private moments," added police. According to India Today report, local police arrested three people from Baguiati and adjacent areas on Saturday after investigating the incident. The arrested will be produced in Barasat court today.
