Mohammed Siraj was the man for India in the Asia Cup final, as he decimated Sri Lanka to a below-par score of 50 by bowling one of the best fast bowling spells ever by an Indian. In response, the Indian openers sealed the game in just 6.1 overs to take the title home for the eighth time, most by any team in the history of the tournament. The official Twitter handle of the Delhi Police put up a hilarious tweet to commemorate Siraj’s amazing performance.

After being forced to bowl first, Rohit Sharma tossed the ball to Siraj in the second over of the game, when Sri Lanka had already lost a batsman and the scoreboard read 7-1. Siraj bowled a good maiden over to maintain the pressure on the home side. However, Siraj returned to bowl the fourth over of the game and absolutely destroyed the Lankan lineup, finishing his second over with four wickets. At this moment, Sri Lanka were in a spot of trouble with half of the team back in the dressing room.
He continued his rampage throughout and finished his spell with 6/21 and the hosts were bowled out for just 50 runs in the first innings. The official Twitter handle of the Delhi Police appreciated his bowling by tweeting, “No speed challans for #Siraj today.” This was in reference to the speeding fines the police have to issue to vehicle owners who drive their vehicles above the speed limit.
With the win, India sealed their eighth Asia Cup title and secured a crucial win before the ODI World Cup. India will take on five-time World Champions Australia in a three-match ODI series starting September 22 before the World Cup next month.
