The reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a decent run in the IPL 2024. While they eye to finish in the top four this time also, their star player and former CSK skipper MS Dhoni has caught eyeballs for playing some quick finishes despite struggling with injury.
With injuries by his side and Dhoni fulfilling his duties like a “true leader”, the Chennai-based franchise dedicated a heartfelt post for the legend ahead of their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CSK posted a picture of Dhoni from their last match, which they lost by 35 runs with the caption reading, “Despite his old age. Despite the pain. Despite the reduced strength. A hero never stops wielding his sword!”
However, the caption was originally written in Tamil, the dialect spoken prominently in that part of the country, it translated to the one mentioned above. This comes after a CSK source had earlier reported that MS Dhoni is struggling with a muscle tear and is forced to feature with their second choice wicketkeeper-batter, Devon Conway ruled out of the edition with injury.
The 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has amassed 136 runs from the 10 innings at a strike rate of 226.66 and average of 68.00. His highest score of unbeaten 37 came against Delhi Capitals in Vizag.
