Uttar Pradesh captain and batter Nitish Rana cleaned up his bat after hitting a century in the Ranji Trophy clash against Mumbai. Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai hosted Nitish Rana’s UP in another exciting encounter of the Ranji Trophy at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. On Day 2 of the clash, Rana scored his brilliant 100 and overall seventh century in First-Class cricket. Rana played an inning of 106 runs off 120 deliveries, combined with 12 boundaries and five sixes.

After completing his century, Rana appeared to take an indirect dig at the former teammate and captain of the Delhi Ranji team, Yash Dhull. Both Rana and Dhull were involved in some feuds after the former, a senior player, was replaced by one-season-old Dhull as the captain of Delhi. It was when Rana decided to call off a one-decade-long stint with the Delhi team and went on to join UP as their captain.

Mumbai trail by 110 runs in second innings

The Ajinkya Rahane-led team trailed behind by 110 runs at the time of writing as their counterparts put up a massive total of 324 runs on the scoreboard. Rana and Co. put on a brilliant performance since day 1 of the game as they wrapped their counterparts for 198 runs. Ankit Rajpoot and Aaqib Khan picked three wickets each while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shivam Sharma chipped in two each. While batting, UP pulled up 324 runs, courtesy of Rana’s 100 and Samarth Singh’s half-century.

Talking about Rana’s domestic career, the 30-year-old was associated with Delhi Cricket for more than a decade after making List A debut in 2013. Later, he went on to captain Delhi in multiple formats, before making his FC debut for Delhi in 2015. Since then, he compiled 2,693 runs at an average above 39.
