Veteran India wicket keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is set to play a new role in his cricketing journey as he joined the Legends League Cricket. The former India cricketer will take charge of the Southern Superstars. Earlier this year, Karthik bid adieu to his international and domestic career and followed the footsteps of his former teammates, including the likes of veteran India opener, Shikhar Dhawan in joining the LLC . Notably, Dhawan, who called it quits on his international career a few days ago, joined the cricketing league a day ago, on August 26.
Karthik was last seen in action during 2024’s Indian Premier League, where he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The 39-year-old delivered some of the most notable performances for his side and helped them reach top four in the IPL 2024. In 13 innings, Karthik compiled 326 runs at an impressive strike rate of 187.35.

On the new chapter of his professional career, Karthik said that he is all set for the forthcoming league. In a statement, the cricketer said, “Playing at the Legends League Cricket is definitely something I am looking forward to after my retirement. I am up to the task both mentally and physically and look forward to playing the brand of cricket I have always enjoyed. Most importantly, to the fans, thank you for your constant support and I hope to entertain you once again on the field.”
