Indian wicketkeeping batter Rishabh Pant recalled details about his horrific car crash in December 2022 and said that the doctors had even talked to him about amputating his leg. Pant also revealed how bad things could have been, and how the spiritual power saved him. Notably, the young cricketer displayed great vigour and perseverance and recently received a yes from BCCI to participate in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League.
Pant spoke to the Times of India and revealed that doctors even contemplated amputation. The Delhi Capitals skipper said, “You become more disciplined if you are spiritual. It's a personal choice. It helped me concentrate on myself. When my accident happened, I felt something spiritual saved me. With the kind of accident I had, I only got my knee injured but I can't even imagine how much worse it could have been.”
The cricketer further said, “Doctors even spoke to me about amputation. I always thought about God. This has given a different view altogether. I know someone is watching over me.” Notably, Pant is set to be back in action during the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, where he will resume the role of the franchise’s captain. Pant underwent rigorous training and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (Bengaluru) and is again ready to lead his side.
Earlier, there were speculations that the Indian cricketer would participate in the 2024 season as an ‘Impact Player’, but the player managed to get back on his feet and trained hard to be back in shape ahead of the tournament.
