Rohit Sharma-led Team India are taking on England in the second of the five-match Test series at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. While this time it was Rohit Sharma who came out on top in the toss battle and opted to bat first.

While the skipper Rohit Sharma (14), Shubman Gill (34), Shreyas Iyer (27), Rajat Patidar (32), Axar Patel (27) and Srikar Bharat (17), all departed cheaply, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the sole warrior, adding 179 runs off 257 deliveries. Apart from Jaiswal, Gill was once again under the limelight for his poor run of form as he could only add 34 runs during his stay of 46 deliveries in the middle.

While Sanjay Manjrekar had shared a piece of advice for the young batter, it was former India cricketer Ravi Shastri also warned him of his performance. Speaking during the Day 1 of the ongoing second Test against England, Shastri said, “It’s a fresh side, young side. These youngsters have to prove themselves. Don’t forget, Pujara is waiting. He is grinding it out at the Ranji Trophy and is always in the radar."

“It’s a Test match; you’ve got to stay out there. Otherwise you’ll get into all sorts of problems. You’re going with those hard hands, reaching out at the ball. Especially with someone of Anderson’s class,” Shastri further added.

Speaking of the match, India put up 336/6 in 93 overs at Stumps on Day 1 of the second Test with Yashasvi Jaiswal (179) and Ravichandran Ashwin (5) batting in the middle.
