Max Verstappen comfortably overtook grid penalties to win the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix from P14 on the grid as Red Bull bagged a one-two as Sergio Perez finished second, while pole-sitter Carlos Sainz finished P3 for Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso got entangled at Les Combes on Lap 1 which left the Mercedes driver out of the race before Valtteri Bottas crashed out as he tried avoiding Nicholas Latifi and brought out a Safety Car on Lap 2.
The restart saw Verstappen start eighth, while Sainz led Perez. For Leclerc race was a nightmare as had to pit for mediums as Verstappen’s tear-off caught in his brake duct. Verstappen made quick work of the cars ahead and cruised into P3 by Lap 8 with only Perez and Sainz to beat. He soon took the lead to consolidate his pole position in the race and the championship.
