Bangladesh, who recently whitewashed Pakistan at their home venue in Rawalpindi, will next take on India. The two neighbouring nations will lock horns in a two-match Test series, followed by three T20Is. While the two-match Test series will be part of the World Test Championships 2023-25 cycle, Bangladesh will aim to better their standing to order to qualify for the WTC Final, set to be played in June next year.

The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side will be eyeing to whitewash India at their home, seeing the confidence after their series clean sweep in Pakistan. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to name the squad for the India tour, Ebadot Hossain remains hopeful to make a return in the side. It is to be noted that Hossain has been out since July 2023 after he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury during Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan.

Ebadot Hossain hopeful for India tour; says “Maybe I will be taken to India”

With the Bangladesh pacer out for more than a year now, he remains hopeful of making a return in the upcoming India tour. Speaking to The Daily Mail, Ebadot said, “It takes a long time to recover from the kind of injury that I had. It's a difficult time. Don't think it will take too long to recover now. I will play and try to do well.”

"I am following the programme that the physios, trainers and fast-bowling coach have given me. I have not been given permission to bowl with hundred percent intensity. I am bowling at 70 to 80 percent now. Maybe I will be taken with the team to India. I will get support there with my bowling. The doctors and physios will be there and will be monitoring me. Maybe that's why they will take me. My fitness test will take place there and then they will make a decision," he added.

Although he is undergoing rehabilitation to reach full fitness, sources close to BCB have hinted that the decision on Ebadot Hossain’s inclusion in the side is not taken yet. Furthermore, the BCB Chief has clarified that veteran all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan will continue to play for the national side amid legal proceedings over murder allegations and will feature in the India tour.

Speaking of Bangladesh’s tour of India, the two nations will commence the tour with a two-match Test series, starting September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The teams will then travel to Kanpur, where the second Test is scheduled to be played from September 27 till October 1. They will then play three-match T20I series, starting from October 6.
